Sally's Getting Slaughtered

Today Mr. M and I had lunch at the local pancake house.

When the waitress came to take our order, I told her I couldn't figure out how to squeeze our order into any of the economical specials that came on the menu. There were just too many. I was confused.

"Don't worry," she said. "I can order you up the 'two by four.' Whatever you're having, I'll figure it out," she reassured me. And she did.

Now we've got a "74 by 44" problem that plagues small business employers. And it's pretty damned discouraging.

If you want to see how taxes kill employees of the already-soaked "rich," go here.

In the meantime, cheers.

Problem is, no one wants to hear about the employers, do they? When it first hit the fan with Obama's "only over $250,000" because those are the "rich" people..I read in a number of dental journals about all my colleagues who would begin firing one or two hygienists to lower their income...why bother earning more if it's all donated to the government? Why don't people learn that increasing taxes reduces economic growth? Even a dentist could tell you that!

Yep. As a small business owner myself, yep.

We have progressively reduced our staff over the past several years. We have made accommodations (like making the docs learn to use a speak-to-type program instead of employing a transcriptionist).

Our office nurses do double duty as file clerks and office managers.

Ten years ago we employed six to eight people (besides the docs). Now we have three.

Adherents to a flawed ideology do not care how their philosophy impacts on the real world; it is only what they intend that matters.

Phffft.
