Orgasms have never been a topic here and they probably won't be again. But I came across this video posted on law professor Ann Althouse's blog, and it's too interesting (and funny and whacky) to miss. It's called "Ten Things You Didn't Know About Orgasms," by Mary Roach.

Watch it when your children are soundly sleeping and you have some uninterrupted time on your hands.

So, not appropriate for work?
I came across this last night on TED and almost peed myself laughing so hard! It was great! Glad I'm not the only one that appreciated it!
Oh my lord I LOVE TED. This definitely made my day, I laughed so hard I cried, especially at the pig stimulation. I found that quite disturbing!
I wish I had orgasms every time I brushed my teeth. I find that most girls don't get them nearly as much as our male counterparts. It's unfortunate.
The benefits of oral hygiene are endless.
Orgasm? Did I hear the term "orgasm"? Here, let me cover my pet rock's ears...okay...does this video help make me better at deliverin' 'em? Yowza!
*I think that was my inner teen reacting h'yar...when I get to adulthood, don't I just do my thang, roll over and snore?*
I have actually been researching some of this stuff for my "Nefarious History of Motherhood" series. Sexual politics and "science" feature heavily in the obstetrics of any age.
I also read an article least week suggesting that we are doing women a DISSERVICE by teaching them that orgasm is good and expected--apparently, it puts extra pressure on us. Just one more thing to add to the pot.
Love the pig insemination video. Off to email this to hubby.
I'd watch the rest but I have to go brush my teeth now....if you get my meaning
Oh goodness - mind-boggling! And that pig!....
Darn, our computer was monopolized last night at home by other family members and now I am at work again, so I have not yet viewed this. I'll be back!!
This was great- thanks! I've read Mary Roach's book "Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers" which is fascinating and funny, but in a respectful way if you can imagine. I'm guessing all of this orgasm info comes from the research for her book "Bonk" which I have not yet read as I don't think it should be lying around the house with three kids who can read and question.
I must add that as a Rutgers alum, I was happy for the woman in the Rutgers study but I must have missed the class where you learn to think yourself to orgasm.
Oh yes - Ted TED TED! Oh, where was I? Loves the Ted. Looking forward to watching.
Why do I have a strange impulse to brush my teeth?
If you can have an orgasm brushing your teeth, then using the Sonicare toothbrush would be equivalent to using a vibrator?
i don't think I'll be showing that in kindergarten tomorrow. I mean first grade. in oregon.
Brilliant! lol
I will have to watch the rest later. Thirteen yo is hovering. I'm off to "pluck" my eyebrows for a bit then will be back when she's moved on from suddenly wanting to be a part of my life :)
Just checking in to see how you're doing!
I've always enjoyed Mary Roach's writing, but this new book could be the best yet. Sometimes I act dead in bed, but have to admit the info cited in this study regarding being dead has never been a factor for me. Hope springs eternal for all involved now:)
